Description: On April 12, 2013, the Plaintiff was helping a friend move boxes with his personal belongings to his grandmother's apartment. When the Plaintiff was in the lobby of the building, two police officers, Genao and Nieves, asked him to put his hands up, searched him, and took his pocket knife though he was not charged with any crime. Nevertheless, the officers restrained and handcuffed the Plaintiff and took him to the 33rd Police Precinct where he remained in a jail cell for 15 hours, and then to Manhattan Central Booking for another one or two hours. The Plaintiff was released after the Manhattan District Attorney's office reviewed the arrest and decided not to charge the Plaintiff with any crime.
