After being taken to the police precinct, a strip search revealed two bags of narcotics. Plaintiff was held on Rikers Island for 18 months with a bail he was unable to meet.
At trial for the drug offense, plaintiff was confronted by a judge who vowed to impose the maximum sentence permissible by law if plaintiff did not accept a plea deal of six years.
