Description: Around 9:00 pm on February 22, 2014, Mr. Maradiaga and a few other individuals were standing on the corner of an intersection observing and video recording a traffic checkpoint set up by NYPD Officers. Two officers approached Mr. Maradiaga and told him and the other individuals that they needed to step away from the traffic checkpoint. The group said they were constitutionally allowed to record police activity, and, in response, the officers handcuffed Mr. Maradiaga and the other individuals. The officers transported them to the precinct and brought them to central booking. They were charged with obstructing governmental administration, but the charges were dismissed.
