Goldberg, Anwyn, et Al vs City of New York, et al.
Case # 19CV04241, U.S. District Court - Southern District NY, May 22, 2019, ended September 30, 2021
Zero Disposition
Complaint
Description: On February 12, 2018, plaintiffs were approached by NYPD Officer Ryan Mclasky, who did not identify himself as a police officer. Without justification, Mclasky grabbed plaintiff Watkins and tackled him to the ground. Unaware that Mclasky was an officer, plaintiff Goldberg discharged pepper spray toward the officer. NYPD officers then tightly handcuffed plaintiffs. Mclasky falsely claimed that plaintiffs were aiding other un-apprehended individuals and that he had identified himself as an officer to plaintiffs. The officers then provided false information to the District Attorney's Office, suppressed evidence, and signed a criminal court complaint falsely accusing plaintiffs of assault.
