Complaint
Description: On October 14, 2011, Plaintiff was part of a peaceful protest when Defendant Officer Johnny Cardona grabbed his shoulder. Unprovoked, Defendant Cardona then hit Plaintiff in the face with his closed fist, knocking him down. Defendant Cardona kicked the prone Plaintiff before the crowd intervened and rescued him. Defendant Cardona filed false charges against Plaintiff, but because of negative publicity the Plaintiff was not arrested. On October 31, 2011, the Prosecuting Attorney agreed to defer any charges pending an investigation. No charges were ever filed against Plaintiff.
