Description: On September 3, 2011, the two Plaintiffs were pulled over by POs Charles Awani and Richard Valdez, without any lawful reason, and were roughly pulled out of the car driven and owned by one of the Plaintiffs. PO Awani asked one of the Plaintiffs if he had smoked marijuana. When the Plaintiff said “no”, PO Awani stated, inter alia, that he knew that Plaintiff was lying and that he would punch him in the face if he kept lying to him. Plaintiff had not lied. PO Valdez searched the car, without consent and without a warrant. PO Valdez also questioned the second Plaintiff, asking if he had smoked marijuana, and asked whether he was lying when he too denied having smoked marijuana. Both Plaintiffs were handcuffed, and...
