Description: On April 11, 2014, Plaintiff was outside his store when NYPD officers including Detective Jemel Carr pulled up outside, restrained him with tight handcuffs, and searched his business. No warrant was ever produced. Officers searched the entire building including non-public areas. After a small amount of marijuana was found in a customer’s purse, Plaintiff was arrested and held for 24 hours before being arraigned. NYPD officers prepared false charges for possession of narcotics. After three hearings, all charges were dismissed on October 2, 2014.

Description: On June 14, 2012, Plaintiff was falsely arrested and detained by NYPD officers, including Detective Jamel Carr. Plaintiff was driven around in a police car from place to place while detained and was eventually taken to the 77th Precinct and Central Booking. Officers falsely accused him of selling controlled substances. The charges were later dismissed. Plaintiff's home was ransacked, with property damaged and money missing. This incident followed a prior arrest on June 30, 2011, after which Plaintiff had filed a lawsuit against the officers. The officers indicated they were aware of the previous lawsuit and threatened to continue harassing Plaintiff until he ceased legal action.
