Complaint
Description: On April 20, 2018, Luis Figueroa and Tanya Mucmacher were stopped on the sidewalk by NYPD oficers Detective Patrick Mcllmuray, omoni Ruggiero, and Juan Cruz. The officers only told Figueroa and Mucmacher that an incident had occurred and they fit the description. Within 15 minutes, Plaintiffs were surrounded by at least 15 additional oficers. They were arrested without being told on what charges. Eventually they learned a robbery had occured, and the police had allegedly told the victim, who could not make an identification because the robber was wearing a mask that covered everything but their eyes, to ID Figueroa and Mucmacher as the perpetrators. Charges dismissed December 2018.

Description: On October 28, 2014, plaintiffs Raymond Diaz and Raymond Diaz, Jr. were arrested by defendant Officer Ruggiero and unknown defendant Officer Doe on false charges of second degree weapon possession and seventh degree possession of a controlled substance. Mr. Diaz, Jr. remained in custody until November 4, 2014, while Mr. Diaz remained in custody until August 29, 2016. The criminal charges were terminated in favor of the plaintiffs on March 8, 2017.

Description: On July 1, 2013, Plaintiff Gonzalo Cortes was unlawfully stopped, searched, arrested, transported to the 115th precinct of the NYPD by police, including one Officer Smith (unknown first name) and then was beaten when he asked to use the restroom, causing him a tear in his shoulder. Plaintiff alleges he was met with indifference with respect to his medical condition, and also that officers failed to intervene on his behalf.
