Complaint
Description: Plaintiff was taking his son to the Rockefeller Tree lighting and kept encountering police barriers blocking his path. Plaintiff went to leave the area altogether when he was pushed by Defendant Officer Rivera and then assaulted him with his 3 yr. old son present. Officers took plaintiff under arrest and refused to answer where his son would be taken. Plaintiff was taken to a local precinct and then the hospital, charged with 195.05; 205.30; 240.20(6); and 240.26(1). All charges were later dismissed.

Description: The plaintiff, Lt. Olaechea, noticed that Officer Velazquez, a Latino officer under her command, was victim of unfair punishments from his white supervisors. One of the supervisors was the defendant, Lt. Daniel Brown. With the plaintiff's help, Officer Velazquez made two separate reports of racial discrimination to the OEEO. In response, there was retaliation from Lt. Brown and Cpt. Greany. This included the spreading of falsehoods about Officer Velazquez and the transferring of Lt. Olaechea. Lt. Olaechea was later charged with five disciplinary and placed on performance monitoring.
