Description: On February 8, 2013, when the Plaintiff was purchasing a MetroCard from a subway kiosk, police officer Michael McCarthy aggressively approached the plaintiff. The plaintiff tried to leave the station to avoid trouble, but Officer Michael McCarthy pursued and apprehended the plaintiff and called backup, including but not limited to officers Paul Bliss, Stephen Allocca, Alexander Gavilan, Kevin Short, Endora Shropshire, and John Toscano. A group of police officers brutally beat and tased the plaintiff once he was already restrained and compliant. As a result, the plaintiff suffered a broken nose, taser burns, and multiple lacerations requiring stitches.

Description: On November 7, 2011 at the 96th St. subway station, 14 year-old Plaintiff A.W. was stopped by Defendant Officer Shropshire who falsely accused him of manipulating the turnstile. A.W. said that he had swiped his card. The officer told him to leave while blocking his path, and then proceeded to detain him in handcuffs and transport him in a van with no seatbelt to the precinct. On the car drive, the officers referred to A.W. as a "jerk", an "asshole", and said "we're too nice to these kids, we need to crack their heads open."
